Radio Eden - History

Radio Eden was founded in 2000 when we embarked on our first project of establishing 
a small community radio station in Uganda. Since then we have helped and supported projects 
in South Africa, Equatorial Guinnea, Sierra Leone, USA and the Ukraine. Now we are trying to 
operate a small satellite radio station.

 

With our community radio stations we have utilised small local broadcasters ranging from 
local artists to NGO’s and charities to make use of the platform at very competitive rates. 
The programmes by some of the charities and NGO’s consisted mainly of educational programmes, 
health programmes and social agenda programmes such as on the integration of disabled people 
within society, etc..

 
Our Vision for Satellite Radio

We envision a similar approach with the proposed satellite radio station. We will encourage 
small niche groups within the reception area to use the station for their local radio projects 
at affordable rates. This would include hobby and social groups in addition to NGO’s, 
philanthropic organisations, educational institutions, religious broadcasters and other 
organisations.

 

Our ethos is to encourage community cohesion by encouraging groups to present themselves, 
allowing listeners to widen their views on local and world issues alike, gaining insights 
into different cultures and current affairs. We are committed to education and wholesome 
entertainment. We will aim to make the radio service distinctly different from existing 
standard music radio stations by offering a wide variety of programming consisting both 
of speech and music.

 

Through being distinctly different we aim to provide an alternative media outlet. We 
hope that this will be received with interest by our potential listeners.

 
Potential Clients for the proposed radio platform

At the moment we are talking to groups in the UK, Russia, Germany and the USA, some of 
which are organisations we have utilised on our outlets abroad.
